Ray of Light Junior Summer Youth Theatre Workshop

Ray of Light Theatre Jr. (ROLT Jr.) is a children's summer theatre program entering its ninth successful year. It is a two-week intensive musical theatre workshop for children, drawing on the talent and experience of members of the ROLT community. It is an immersive program where your children receive hands-on experience in the many aspects of producing a show: Not only singing, dancing and acting, but also set design, construction and stage management. Our program emphasizes creativity, collaboration and fun. At the end of the two week session, students present a musical performance that is, in many ways, their very own.

Summer 2010: Honk Jr.

An optional 'Afternoon Arts' program is available for families who would like to take advantage of a full-day program. 'Afternoon Arts' participants wil focus on production elements such as stagecraft, set design and costume design.

WHO: The program is open to all Bay Area students entering grades 2-9.

WHEN: July 19-30, 2010

TIMES: Half-Day Program is 9 am - 12 noon; Full-Day Program (Including 'Afternoon Arts') is 9am - 4pm

WHERE: The ROLT Junior program will take place at the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church at the corner of Market and Octavia in the heart of San Francisco. This location offers a large rehearsal and performance area as well as a full outdoor play area. Convenient carpool drop off and pick up in the church parking lot will be staffed by ROLT.

STAFF: This year's workshop will once again be directed Ray of Light Theatre veteran Lisa Nelson. Lisa has been a teacher for over 20 years and has been the director for ROLT Jr. for four seasons. She is a Bay Area actress and director with a Masters in Theatre Production.  Joining Lisa this year as co-director will be Megan Ahern.  Megan teaches acting and Musical Theatre at Knudson Academy of Performing Arts.  She has a Masters Degree in Theatre from Central Washington University.  Megan has worked in the theatre as a performer, director, and designer but her first love is teaching.  Her students have performed with Disney, as well as several venues throughout the Las Vegas area.  Megan's passion is Musical Theatre and she is excited to begin working with your students this summer on one of her favorite shows, Honk, Jr!  Lisa and Megan will once again be joined by various theatre professionals (costumes, tech, sets, etc) and our great ROLT Student Interns.

REGISTER: Register by June 1st. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited. ROLT Junior has a history of booking up early so be sure to sign up soon to hold your child's spot for this year's workshop!
