Coming this Spring: 2009-2010 Workshop Series Auditioning for Musical Theatre with Christy McIntoshMay 8, 2010  Are you singing the same songs and doing the same monologues as everyone else? Do you want to know how to make directors laugh with you and not at you? Are you not getting the roles you want? About the Class:
Who: The workshop is open to anyone ages 16+. No audition experience required.
What to bring: A notepad & pen/pencil. Participants, please bring sheet music for a song you have sung or would like to sing for an audition. Please wear an outfit that you might wear or have worn for a general audition.
When: Saturday, May 8th, 2009; 10am-1pm.

Difficulty level: No audition experience required to attend the workshop. However, there will be an opportunity for a few of the more experienced actors to work onstage with the director in front of the class. These actors will be pre-selected. Please see below for more details.
What will be taught? In this 3-hour workshop we will learn about the audition process from your first "hello" to your last "thank you." We will work on choosing the right song, how to do a cold reading, how to make the perfect first impression, how to choose the right headshot, how to write your resume, what to wear, and what NOT to do. Ever. If you're regularly auditioning and just want to hone your skills, or you're just starting out and need a crash course, you will benefit from this class!
Want to receive one-on-one feedback on your audition material? While everyone in the class will actively participate, we will have an opportunity for a limited number of participants to go through an actual audition and work their material one-on-one with Christy, in front of the class. Perfect for people looking for more experience or for people wanting to try out new material. EVERY PARTICIPANT WILL WALK OUT WITH A NEW AUDITION SONG! What does auditing the class mean?: If you're not ready to sing in front of a class full of people, but still want to learn how to have stronger auditions, you can come and listen and observe the class. If you want to, you can practice how to enter and exit the room with confidence (which is a huge part of the audition!)

About the instructor: Christy is an audition and vocal coach in New York City and nationwide via Skype. Her students have booked National Tours, agent contracts, regional productions, and Broadway callbacks. She has appeared Off-Broadway in "Evil Dead: The Musical", "Elvis and Juliet" with Fred Willard, and Clyde Fitch's "The Truth." Regional credits include "Slasher" (Humana Festival), "The Scene" (Hartford Stage and George St. Playhouse), "Funked Up Fairy Tales" (Barrington Stage), "Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical", (Eureka Theatre) "Bat Boy", and "The Last 5 Years" (Ray of Light Theatre), and San Francisco's infamous "Beach Blanket Babylon."
